Natasha Hull (Vassilieva) from St. Petersburg has been photographing the underground Russian rock music scene from the early 70-s. Since rock music in the USSR was officially banned, it didn't help her to establish a friendly relationship with the authorities, but who cared? Her work also depicts Russian life as it was just before and soon after the fall of Communism.

The 100 photos selected for this exhibition show the people, attitudes and events behind the official Soviet mask of indestructible power, including some of Russia's greatest rock stars.

From 1994 Natasha continued her career in London, working for the first Russian rock magazine.
She was the first Russian photographer who got the accreditation to making pictures of the
Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, Bon Jovi and other rock legends.

Natasha Hull is now a director of Seagull Publishing House, promoting contemporary Russian fiction
in the English-speaking world.

The exhibition is part of St. Petersburg's 300th anniversary celebrations.
